O’Brien makes initial comment on Fennelly Report

6 April, 2017 - by Jonathan O'Brien TD

Speaking after the release of the Fennelly Report, Sinn Féin TD and Justice spokesperson Jonathan O’Brien has said that while he is happy that, on first reading, no criminal cases were affected by the recording of telephone calls to and from Garda stations, the sheer size of the Report means that it will take further examination and time for a comprehensive analysis.

The Cork North-Central TD said:

“It is encouraging that, on first reading, there does not appear to have been any interference into criminal cases as a result of the recording of telephone calls to and from Garda stations.

“However, the sheer size of the Report, which runs to some eight hundred pages, means that it will take further examination and time for a comprehensive analysis.”
