Foster not listening to Irish language groups - Ó Muilleoir
Sinn Féin MLA Máirtín Ó Muilleoir said the DUP leader Arlene Foster is misrepresenting the views of Irish speakers she has recently met or she wasn’t listening to their views during those meetings.
Máirtín Ó Muilleoir MLA said:
“After those meetings, the representatives of the Irish language groups said they stood 100 per cent behind their ongoing campaign for an Irish Language Act — indeed they met Arlene Foster in pursuit of that goal.
"They also made clear that they were representing the thousands who expressed support for an Irish Language Act in public consultations and the hundreds of thousands who are demanding an Acht.
“I am pleased that Pobal has underlined that fact today in a statement.
“But now Ms Foster says only a few people other than political activists want an Irish Language Act.
"Arlene Foster wasn’t listening during the meetings she held with Irish language groups or she is misrepresenting their views. Only she can tell us which.”
