Trade unions must make equal pay for equal work a priority – Cullinane
Sinn Féin TD and spokesperson for Public Expenditure and Reform David Cullinane has said it would be deeply unfair and foolhardy for the Government to continue with a two tier pay structure in the public service.
Speaking today, the Waterford TD said:
“The kite flying on public sector pay has already begun. First, it was pensions and now, it is a threat to continue with an unfair, two tier pay structure. The principle of equal pay for equal work must be strongly asserted by the trade unions. It must also be a key issue to be addressed by Government.
“Failure to resolve this issue will render any new pay agreement unfair. Those on the front line who entered the public service in 2011 must not be left behind. This is a red line issue for Sinn Féin in any pay negotiations.”
