Fire at Knockbraken Ward
South Belfast Sinn Féin Assembly member Alex Maskey today said that there was widespread relief that last nights fire in a ward in Knockbraken designed for young people with mental health problems did not result in fatalities.
Mr Maksey said:
"Given that fact that last nights fire occurred within a ward catering for young people with mental health problems and given that massive damaged caused by the blaze it is obviously a relief that nobody was seriously injured or killed.
"Every effort must now be made to get those living in the Copeland ward placed in proper accommodation with as little upheaval as possible and to ensure that every effort is made to minimise the effect of last nights fire on their overall treatment." ENDS
