Alleged secret payments to lay executives at St John of God unacceptable - David Cullinane TD
Sinn Féin TD and member of the Public Accounts Committee David Cullinane TD said he is alarmed at reports that a HSE audit found that the St John of God charity had not complied with public pay policy for over 30 years, and that there had been confidential arrangements and a private payroll system in place.
Speaking today Deputy Cullinane said:
"I am alarmed and concerned that again irregularities have been allegedly uncovered in one of Ireland's leading charities and provider of important health services.
"Reports of secret payments to lay executives is deeply troubling. I am also concerned at comments made by Dr Geraldine Smith that the order was not straight with the HSE.
"These issues need to be thoroughly examined by the PAC. It is becoming impossible for the PAC to keep up with scandal after scandal but we must demand and ensure full transparency and accountability in respect of taxpayers money.”
