Chair of Oireachtas GFA Committee Kathleen Funchion welcomes newly elected MPs to Leinster House
Speaking today after the meeting of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement, Sinn Féin's TD Kathleen Funchion and Chairperson of the committee said that it was important to have the newly elected MPs' voices included in committee discussions regarding Brexit and the full Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.
Deputy Funchion said:
"It was great to welcome the newly elected northern Sinn Féin MPs to the meeting of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement today which took place in private session.
"It is important to have northern voices heard, particularly, during our discussions regarding Brexit and the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. We would also like to hear unionist voices take part in these discussions.
"We value the the contribution of our northern colleagues and I echo their calls for the continued support for and full implementation of all aspects to the Good Friday Agreement which needs to protected especially in the context of developments with PM Theresa May's new government."
