Safer Meath Campaign Public Meeting to tackle increased Crime – Tóibín
Cathaoirleach of the Safer Meath Campaign Peadar Tóibín TD has stated that Meath is being hit on the double with regards crime.
Speaking before a meeting of the Safer Meath Campaign tomorrow night (Tuesday 11th July) at 8pm in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan, the Sinn Féin TD for Meath West said:
“Our population is going up, yet the number of Gardaí in the county is down. Meath has one of the lowest Garda per capita figures in the state.
“Added to this is the fact that increased Gardaí numbers tackling the ongoing Kinahan/Hutch feud in Dublin is lowering the number of Gardaí in Meath further. This is directly leading to a spike in the level of criminal activity in our county.
“Meath has no Garda Divisional Headquarters in the county to ensure that all of the aspects of An Garda Síochána can collaborate in one headquarters in the county. It is outrageous that Garda locally have to operate in a dispersed manner
“The most important action that the Fine Gael/ Independent government can do is ensure that we have the numbers that we are entitled to. We are calling on all interested people to come to the Safer Meath Campaign on Tuesday the 11th of July at 8pm in the Newgrange Hotel, Navan, Co Meath. We need to reclaim our streets, our square, and our parks and make this county a safe place for our families.”
