Proactive and positive approach needed to address 'rogue' bonfires - Hargey
Sinn Féin councillor Deidre Hargey has said it is time for the DUP to take a proactive and positive approach to addressing health and safety and environmental issues pertaining to ‘rouge’ bonfires.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s meeting between residents of Victoria Place, statutory agencies and elected representatives Cllr Hargey said:
“The fact that dialogue is taking place is to be welcomed but there is also an onus on unionist politicians to show leadership.
“It is time that the DUP meet with the residents and take a proactive and positive approach to addressing health and safety and environmental issues pertaining to ‘rogue’ bonfires .
“The residents living in this building are angry that this situation was allowed to happen, ultimately those who lit the fire are ultimately responsible for any damage.”
