Mickey Brady to travel as international observer in Venezuelan elections
Sinn Féin MP for Newry & Armagh, Mickey Brady, will travel to Venezuela this week to act as an official international observer for the nation's upcoming Constitutional Assembly elections on Sunday 30th July.
Speaking in advance of the vote, Brady stressed the importance of this election, and the role of observers, in the current Venezuelan political climate:
"Acting in my capacity as an international observer I am eager to ensure there remains international confidence in what is a crucial election for the Venezuelan people.
"The electorate has an opportunity to decide who sits in their Constitutional Assembly in a free and fair election.
"As observers our role is to ensure that only the people of Venezuela determine the future direction of their country.”
