Kilkeel manufacturing jobs must be secured in takeover - Hazzard
Sinn Féin’s Chris Hazzard MP has called for job security for almost 800 workers in Rockwell Collins’ manufacturing plant in Kilkeel, as it undergoes a takeover by American firm United Technologies Corporation.
Speaking following the announcement, Hazzard said certainty for workers and their families should be paramount in proposed ‘restructuring’.
The South Down MP said:
“There is a responsibility for all involved in this commercial takeover to safeguard the jobs and livelihoods for the almost 800 employees in the Kilkeel plant.
“This is an exceptional facility, and it is made so by the dedication of its employees.
“It is crucial that the ‘significant restructuring’ expected doesn’t jeopardise a single job in the pursuit of profit.
“I will be engaging with all those involved in this process to ensure the concerns those affected are heard.”
