Brady welcomes end to Universal Credit blockage for Irish passport holders
Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Finance and the Department of Communities that technical issues barring Irish passport holders from accessing Universal Credit have been resolved.
Speaking following notification from Department officials, the Newry & Armagh MP said:
“I have been engaging with the Department of Finance on an ongoing basis to resolve this issue, and welcome today’s announcement.
“The fact that Irish passport holders, and those with driving licences issued in the north, faced additional obstacles was unacceptable.
“Following my contact with the Department, I am thankful that this issue has been resolved."
