Adams welcomes Congressional letter in support of US envoy to the North
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has welcomed the congressional letter in support of a US special envoy signed by 25 congress members that has been sent to the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
Teachta Adams said;
“I welcome Congressman Richard Neal's concern for the Peace Process and his initiative in sending a letter to the US Secretary of State.
“America has played a consistently positive and supportive role in helping to build and maintain progress. That support is still very much needed.
“Brexit has thrown up the prospect of a return to a visible, restrictive international land border on the island of Ireland. This will have serious consequences for the agriculture and food sectors and the two economies on this island.
“Sinn Féin believes that providing a designated special status for the North is the best way to protect our economies and communities.”
