Sinn Féin welcome housing review
Sinn Féin Housing Spokesperson Carál Ní Chuilín has welcomed confirmation that the Department for Communities is to conduct a consultation and equality impact assessment on the allocation of social housing.
“I welcome confirmation of this review as it is something Sinn Féin has been seeking for a considerable period,” the North Belfast MLA commented.
“There are huge issues in the process of allocating homes and there needs to be much better transparency with regard to how allocations are processed and the criteria used.
“Sinn Féin has consistently raised a particular issue around the issue of intimidation points and how alleged intimidation and harassment is verified.
“The allocation of housing should be based on genuine objective need and I would encourage the public to engage with the consultation in order to help shape future housing policy.”
