British Government must give blood contamination survivors justice – McCallion
Sinn Féin’s Elisha McCallion MP has called on the British Government to ensure the public enquiry into the blood contamination scandal properly addresses the concerns and grievances of victims.
The Foyle MP said:
“Today I met with British Labour’s Diana Johnson MP, co-Chair of the Westminster All-Party Group on the Contaminated Blood Inquiry.
“At least 2,400 people have died in the north of Ireland and in Britain from health complications resulting from contaminated blood given to those with existing blood-related illnesses.
“I have spoken to many constituents affected by this fatal scandal, including many who’ve lost friends, family and loved ones through contamination.
“This is a major public health scandal and the British Government must take steps to ensure the upcoming public inquiry is stringent and gives survivors the justice they deserve.”
