Vicious attack on Catholic man in Serpentine Road

1 July, 2005

Sinn Féin North Belfast MLA Kathy Stanton has expressed concern after a Catholic man, Martin McNally was left seriously injured after he was viciously assaulted on the Serpentine Road last night. It is the second incident in recent days after the attempted abduction of another Catholic man on Wednesday night in the lower Antrim Road/Carlisle Circus area.

Ms Stanton said:

"This vicious attack has left a man so seriously injured that he is unable to speak. They have had to delay a brain scan until Monday because the swelling is so serious.

"This is the second incident in recent days." ENDS
