Fianna Fáil leader's remarks "cynical and self-serving" - Gerry Adams TD

19 November, 2017 - by Gerry Adams

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has described remarks by Fianna Fail leader Micheál Martin as "cynical and self serving."

Teachta Adams said:

"The Fianna Fáil leader is no position to moralise on who should be in government. For fourteen years he sat at the Cabinet table taking decisions that wrecked the economy. Sixty Four Billion euro of taxpayers money was used to bailout the banks. He never once spoke out against the polices of those Fianna Fáil governments.

"Sinn Féin is not very concerned with, or interested in, his views on government. He could write the book on bad governance.

"Today, he props up a Fine Gael government that is refusing to deal properly with the housing and health crises.

"Of course both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael don't want to see Sinn Féin in government. They have been able to run this state in their own interests for nearly one hundred years.

"It will be the people who will decide who forms the next government and Sinn Féin will be seeking a mandate to be in that government."
