Substantial Changes Must Be Made To Clonburris SDZ – SF tables 45 amendments - Eoin Ó Broin TD
Sinn Féin TD for Dublin Mid West Eoin Ó Broin has said that “substantial changes must be made to the Clonburris SDZ if it is to secure Sinn Féin’s support”.
The call comes after Sinn Féin Councillors have submitted 45 amendments covering a range of issues.
Deputy Ó Broin said:
“Sinn Féin shared the widespread disappointment with the outcome of the public consultation on the Draft Clonburris Strategic Development Zone. In our view the Council should have made a greater effort to incorporate many of the good suggestions from Councillors and members of the public who took the time to make submissions
“However the ball is now firmly in the court of the elected representatives. Over a series of meetings in January starting on Wednesday 24th Councillors will debate and vote on proposed amendments to the report.
“Sinn Féin has tabled 45 separate amendments across a range of areas and we will actively seeking support from other parties for these.
“We strongly believe that the SDZ should not exceed 8000 houses. Of these 25% should social and 25% at genuinely affordable prices for working families.
“We have also tabled amendments on issues such as public transport provision; ensuring adequate delivery of infrastructure and amenities along side residential development; requiring residents consent before opening new pedestrian and vehicular access points into existing estates; respecting building heights with existing estates at the boundaries of the SDZ; and ensuring place and park names are rooted in local history and culture.
“Substantial changes must be made to the Clonburris SDZ if it is to secure Sinn Féin’s support.
"We will also be open to supporting amendments proposed by other parties that improve the plan four existing and future residents of Clondalkin and Lucan.”
