Ní Chuilín slams housing proposals
The only way of resolving the housing crisis is through a comprehensive building programme and dealing with the inequality in allocations, Sinn Féin housing Spokesperson Carál Ní Chuilín has said.
The North Belfast MLA was commenting after a Westminster committee warned that the British Chancellor’s plans to address the lack of housing will fail.
“We have been warning for some time that the British Government’s proposals will not deal with the housing crisis and now even a Westminster select committee is saying the same thing,” Carál Ní Chuilín commented.
“Tory policy is exacerbating the crisis not easing it because austerity cuts are undermining public services and restricting the provision of social housing.
“What we need are proposals that provide for a comprehensive social housing build programme and concrete measures to deal with the historic legacy of housing inequality.”
