Buckley slams failure to address Fermoy Hospital cuts threat
Sinn Féin TD for East Cork, Pat Buckley has once again slammed the HSE this week after it emerged that vital respite care services in Fermoy Community Hospital are still facing cuts due to the failure to appoint a Medical Officer.
Deputy Buckley said:
"This not the first time I have raised this issue with the Minister. I received assurances from the Department on the 11th of December 2017 that this issue would be dealt with and cuts to respite avoided.
"The continued failure to appoint a Medical Officer in light of this situation raises serious concern about management in the services.
"This situation is a very serious matter and if it is not resolved, then the people of East Cork will be let down again. The present situation is not sustainable going forward and when this voluntary arrangement ceases, bed numbers will fall from 72 bed unit to only a 58."
