Anderson calls on civil service to release Brexit assessments
Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has called on the civil service in the north to release its assessments on the extent of the impact of Brexit in the north.
Martina Anderson said:
"I met with representative of the civil service in Brussels to discuss the impact of the Tory Brexit agenda on the north and the disaster it will be for all aspects of society.
"While no-one could credibly claim that Brexit will not have a negative impact on the north, it is important that we have as complete a picture as possible of what the scale of the impact will be.
"We have already seen from the leaked British Treasury report that impact of Brexit will be even greater in the north and that our economy will be even harder hit.
"And many people have predicted that the scale of the impact of Brexit in the north could be event worse than expected.
"I called on the civil service representatives to release the findings of their own assessments into the projected impact of Brexit in the north so that local businesses and others can get a full picture of the outworking of Brexit.
"I have no doubt that when the full extent of Brexit is known that more and more people will support our case for the north to secure special status for the north within the EU."
