Ennis welcomes £120,000 funding for youth arts projects across the north
Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has welcomed the awarding of £120,000 to support youth arts projects across the north.
The party’s culture, arts and sports spokesperson said:
“I welcome the news that 12 youth projects across the north are set to benefit from £120,000 of funding to develop arts projects, which promote mental health and wellbeing.
“We should never lose sight of the intrinsic value of arts and the key role of artists in creating a society where arts act to improve health and wellbeing.
“We must ensure facilities and programmes are available for those suffering from mental health issues to be able to express their feelings and thoughts in a positive way.
“Sinn Féin commend this funding but are fully aware that more must be done to tackle the issue of mental health.
“This a positive move in terms of the promotion of the arts especially with the potential of further Tory/DUP cuts to the arts.”
