Crowe welcomes anti-social behaviour initiative
Sinn Féin Transport spokesperson and Dublin South West TD Seán Crowe has welcomed a new initiative by Dublin Bus to tackle anti-social behaviour. Speaking after attending the launch of the initiative in Tallaght today deputy Crowe commended the success of the Tallaght Bus Forum and said he would like to see this success "replicated in other areas".
He said, "I would like to welcome the rollout of the Dublin Bus Transport, Education and Anti-Social Behaviour Programme. The programme includes a new digital CCTV system for all buses and an anti-vandalism and educational DVD to be shown in schools throughout Dublin.
"The operation of the Tallaght bus forum has been a success story which I would like to commend and see replicated in other areas. The forum, which includes representatives from Dublin Bus Management, Unions, Local Politicians, Residents, Gardai and Local Authority, has provided a wide infrastructure through which issues of anti social behaviour can be meaningfully addressed.
"It was with this in mind that I asked the Minister last February whether he thought that similar fora would be a good idea for other areas. While he refused to answer the question on the grounds that it was not a matter for him but for Dublin Bus it is to be hoped that his presence here today is a recognition of the importance of this issue."
