Hazzard welcomes 106 new park & share spaces at Sheepbridge

7 March, 2018 - by Chris Hazzard

Sinn Féin’s Chris Hazzard MP has welcomed confirmation from Department for Infrastructure (DfI) that they are to invest more than £200,000 in 106 new park & share spaces at the Sheepbridge on the outskirts of Newry.

Work has now commenced on site and should be complete within two months.

The South Down MP said:

“This is great news for commuters from the wider South Down and Newry area who are increasingly keen to make use of the park & share service currently on offer at the Sheepbridge.

“These additional spaces will also now ensure the site is safe for commuters as buses will now be able to safely access the site to pick up and drop off.

Mr Hazzard added:

“I also would like to commend DFI officials for continuing to invest significant resources in improving park & share facilities like this throughout South Down.

“With more sites potentially earmarked for busy commuter spots such as Ballynahinch and Downpatrick it is vital that resources continue to be allocated in the years ahead to meet this growing need.”
