Sinn Féin Welcomes Research on Mental Health in the Creative Industries
Sinn Féin's spokesperson for mental health Órlaithí Flynnhas welcomed the report by Inspire wellbeing and the Ulster University into the state of mental ill health in the creative industries.
The West Belfast MLA said:
“Our creative industries bring inspiration, joy and prosperity to our society.
“Yet this research shows that many working within the Creative industries are undervalued, underappreciated and under immense pressure.
“Drug and alcohol abuse is prevalent and mental health problems are common place. Work is often insecure and underpaid.
"If we want to build a vibrant creative sector we need to properly support and value talent.
“Among other things that means improving working conditions and tailoring Healthcare to the specific needs of the sector.
“I will be meeting with the report’s authors to discuss how we can implement their recommendations.”
