Metro North should proceed but not through Na Fianna grounds – Mary Lou McDonald TD
Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald TD, has said the proposed Metro North route should be amended to ensure that the construction does not impact on Na Fianna GAA Club or on Home Farm Football Club.
Speaking today McDonald said:
“Metro North is a vitally important piece of transport infrastructure and it is important that work begins on its construction as soon as possible.
“However, the current proposed route would see Na Fianna GAA Club and its 3000 members off shifted off its grounds for up to seven years.
This cannot be allowed to happen. An alternative route must be developed.
“Sinn Féin will seek meetings with the club, the Minister and all the stakeholders on this issue to see if we can come up with an agreed proposal that does not impact on Na Fianna GAA Club or on Home Farm Football Club which will also be impacted if the current proposed route goes ahead.
“It is important that we work quickly on this issue. The Metro North project has been delayed for far too long and work must begin as soon as possible.”
