Hazzard to accompany Loughinisland families to 10 Downing Street
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard will accompany the families of the victims of the Loughinisland Massacre to 10 Downing St at 12:30pm tomorrow to demand truth and justice for those massacred at the Heights Bar in Loughinisland in 1994.
The petition submission will be followed by a panel discussion with the families and legal professionals, alongside Chris Hazzard MP, in Westminster. An excerpt of the ground breaking documentary into the massacres, ‘No Stone Unturned’, will be screened after the discussion.
Speaking this afternoon, the South Down MP said:
“I am honoured to accompany the Loughinisland families to the door of 10 Downing St as the next step in their long and dignified campaign for truth and justice.
“20 years on from the massacre carried out by the UVF with the collusion of British state forces, the families are still denied truth and justice.
“The refusal to provide inquests is one of the issues at the heart of the current impasse in the north. Both the British and Irish governments now have a burning duty to resolve this injustice.
"Tomorrow is a significant day for the Loughinisland families, and Sinn Féin will continue to support their demands for justice.”
