Irish diaspora continue to support progress - Maskey
Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey has said that support for political progress in the north of Ireland remains high among the Irish diaspora in the United States.
The West Belfast MP was speaking upon completion of a political tour of Philadelphia.
Paul Maskey MP said:
"This was a very constructive tour, as we met with trade union officials, political representatives, and leaders from the Irish diaspora.
"In my meeting, I provided an update on the Brexit process and the damaging implications for Ireland, and on a political impasse created by the DUP’s refusal to tolerate a society based on equality and universal rights.
"Among Irish Americans and their representatives there remains an unwavering commitment to political progress on the basis of rights and equality.
"This dialogue is essential. Sinn Féin will continue to work with the Irish diaspora and with allies on political developments in Ireland."
