Invest should defend our economy from the threat of Brexit

11 April, 2018 - by Conor Murphy

Responding to research published by the Department for the Economy SF's Conor Murphy said:

“Since the Brexit vote Chief Executive of Invest NI Alastair Hamilton has attempted to downplay the importance of access to the EU market for US investors, claiming that EU 'market access is generally not an issue'[1].

“However as this research published by the Department for the Economy confirms, access to the EU market is ‘a core part of a location’s value proposition for US FDI’.

“Whatever his personal views on Brexit, in his capacity as Chief Executive of Invest NI Mr Hamilton should be asserting our economic interests in the face of Brexit.

"This includes maintaining unfettered access to the EU market.”
