Ennis to meet Department of Communities on cuts to the Arts
Sinn Féin's spokesperson for the arts Sinead Ennis MLA has criticised cuts to more than 40 arts organisations.
Sinead Ennis said:
“The arts are an engine for progress, wellbeing, and prosperity.
“We should be investing in the arts as part of a modern, creative, and diverse society.
“Instead the arts are being targeted under the austerity budget imposed by the Tories and the DUP.
“These cuts will plunge many groups into crisis if not collapse. It is a major blow for the arts sector.
“I have requested a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Department of the Communities and am seeking a meeting with the Arts Council to discuss these cuts.”
