Mary Lou McDonald urges public to have their say on MetroLink
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald TD has reiterated a warning that the proposed MetroLink project should not impact negatively on local sports and community facilities in Drumcondra and Glasnevin.
The Dublin Central Teachta Dála has also encouraged members of the public to have their say by making a submission to the public consultation before the deadline on Friday 11th May.
Speaking today, Deputy McDonald said,
“Construction of the long awaited MetroLink is long overdue, and while I don’t wish to see any further delay in the project, the ‘emerging preferred route’ is unacceptable as it places severe pressure on the local Na Fianna GFC and other community facilities.
"I have met with Na Fianna in recent days to hear how they might lose access to their pitches for seven years, impacting severely on their 3,000 members.
"Encouraging the local community to have their say on the MetroLink as part of the current public consultation, Ms McDonald added,
“I have raised this matter in the Dáil directly with Minister Shane Ross and I’ve written to the National Transport Agency and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to outline my concerns. I encourage all members of the public to have their say by making a submission as part of the public consultation. The deadline is 5pm on Friday 11th May and details can be found on: http://www.metrolink.ie/#/public-consultation"
