Fianna Fáil must secure pensions for Community Employment Supervisors in Budget negotiations – John Brady TD
Sinn Féin spokesperson for Employment Affairs & Social Protection, John Brady TD, has said that it is up to Fianna Fáil to secure a pension scheme for CE Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors in the upcoming Budget negotiations.
A motion calling for such action was passed in the Dáil this afternoon.
Speaking following the vote, Teachta Brady said:
“I welcome the fact that the Government’s do-nothing amendment to this Motion was defeated in the Dáil this afternoon.
"This amendment sought to ignore the almost ten year old Labour Court recommendation proposing such a pension scheme be put in place.
"The amendment also failed to recognise the valuable contribution of Community Employment in towns and villages across the State.
“We now have a Dáil motion passed calling for the implementation of the 2008 Labour Court recommendation and Fianna Fáil can make this happen.
“Fianna Fáil is in a unique position when it comes to the upcoming Budget 2019 negotiations with the Government relying on them to pass this Budget.
“It is up to Fianna Fáil to take action on the back of their Dáil Motion and to ensure that a pension scheme for the 1,250 CE Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors is put in place.”
