Minister must address the legacy of cuts suffered by the public sector - Jonathan O'Brien TD
Sinn Fein's Junior spokesperson on Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Jonathan O’Brien TD, has called on Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe to redress the legacy of cuts suffered by new entrants into the public service.
Speaking today, the Cork North-Central TD said:
“The Minister for Finance must address the legacy of cuts exacted upon the public sector and correct the unequal pay that persists within public services.
"A road-map must be detailed with priority given to lower and middle income earners, nursing and mental health staff, teachers, and those who work in our front line services.
"Unequal pay for equal work is unacceptable in any progressive society, be it within the public or private sector. The current inequality within our public services is increasingly unjustifiable in a time of economic growth.”
