Paediatric surgery delays unacceptable – Brady

10 May, 2018 - by Mickey Brady

Newry & Armagh Sinn Féin MP Mickey Brady has said that the delay by the Southern Trust in providing paediatric surgery is completely unacceptable.

Mickey Brady will meet with the Southern Health Trust tomorrow to discuss the issue.

The Newry and Armagh MP said:

"Children's Theatres in both Craigavon and Daisy Hills hospitals have not been running at full capacity.

“This is a completely unacceptable situation which needs to be rectified  as a matter of urgency.

"Reports state that as many as 100 families have been affected.

“This no doubt has caused huge stress and frustration for the families.

“There has been a failure by the Trust to communicate properly with those families awaiting treatment and that is unacceptable.

"While the Trust has apologised for ‘distress and convenience involved’ we need a full explanation into how this situation was allowed to develop and what actions will be taken to address this issue.

“In the meantime, anyone who is concerned should contact 02837562495 for advice and information.”
