Two year time frame on Broadband money needs to be renegotiated - Gildernew

23 May, 2018 - by Michelle Gildernew

Fermanagh South Tyrone MP Michelle Gildernew is calling for the two-year time frame on £150m Broadband money to be renegotiated.

“Following the announcement of £150m for broadband a number of industry experts questioned whether it was feasible to spend this money within the two-year time frame.

"Philip McGuigan MLA andI met with the Department for Economy earlier this week and they confirmed it will be difficult to spend £150m in two years.

"I am seriously concerned that any money not spent within the two year limit will be surrendered to the British Treasury.

"I have written to the Treasury calling on it to remove the two-year limit on spending this money.
