Murphy disappointed North Belfast summer youth programmes refused funding
Sinn Féin Oldpark Councillor Ryan Murphy has spoken of his disappointment at a decision by the Education Authority to turn down funding to two North Belfast summer youth programmes.
Cllr Murphy said:
“I am deeply disappointed to hear the Education Authority’s decision to decline funding to both Ardoyne Youth Club and Mountain Hill Youth Club in Ligoniel for the EA’s Youth Intervention Programme.
“These are two areas of high demand for youth services and especially so during the summer time. The decision to decline funding to these crucial intervention services has the potential to negatively affect local North Belfast residents in terms of anti-social behaviour.
“Sinn Féin has requested a meeting with the Education Authority and the youth clubs affected to discuss a viable and sustainable pathway forward for these vital front-line youth services in North Belfast.”
