Begley calls for public funding for Enterprise Hub

5 June, 2018 - by Órfhlaith Begley

Órfhlaith Begley MP has called for public funding to help transform the vacant site at Omagh Health Centre into an Enterprise Hub with the potential of 180 jobs.

The West Tyrone MP and her party colleague Catherine Kelly MLA  visited the site on Friday to discuss development plans with Nick O'Sheil, CEO of Omagh Enterprise.

Speaking following the meeting Ms Begley said,

“The site at the former Health Centre is an ideal location in the heart of Omagh town which has been lying vacant for over a year.

"Omagh Enterprise is seeking to transform this site into an Enterprise Hub. This development would lead to much needed job creation and be a major economic boost for the town.

“It will also support the regeneration of Omagh town centre which is set to undergo significant change in the coming years.

“The close proximity to Strule Education Campus and South West College would enable Omagh Enterprise to build on links with local students in the area which offer young people another career opportunity.

“Omagh Enterprise have raised their own capital and require additional funding from government to get the project over the line.

“I will now meet with Department officials to directly make the case for public funding of this project.”
