Begley seeks cross-party meeting with Health Department
Sinn Féin MP Órfhlaith Begley is seeking an urgent cross-party meeting with the Department of Health to find out why Billy Caldwell has been denied any further access to medication that has been so effective in treating his condition.
The West Tyrone MP said:
“Twelve-year-old Billy Caldwell's medication is due to run out on Thursday.
“The response I received from the Permanent Secretary for the Department of Health, Richard Pengelly failed to adequately explain the basis for this decision to deny him any further access to the medication that has been so effective in treating his condition.
“On Monday of this week, all the main parties in the North, with the exception of the DUP, attended a meeting with Billy’s mother and expressed support for the reinstatement of Billy's medication.”
