Ennis calls for cross party meeting on Curriculum Sports Programme

6 June, 2018 - by Sinéad Ennis

Sinn Féin MLA Sinéad Ennis has called for a cross party meeting with the Interim Head of the Civil Service to discuss the long-term viability of the Curriculum Sports Programme.

The party’s culture, arts and sport spokesperson said:

“Today I and the other parties held a meeting with the GAA and the IFA to discuss the long-term viability of the Curriculum Sports Programme.

“Any cut under this Tory/DUP budget would have a severely damaging impact on sporting projects within our local schools and to the tens of thousands of children who practically benefit from this funding.

“On the back of this meeting I am calling for a cross party meeting with the Interim Head of the Civil Service to discuss the long-term viability of the Curriculum Sports Programme.

“Sinn Féin remain committed to ensuring this valuable service receives adequate funding.”
