‘British Government must accept its responsibilities’ - Dillon

11 June, 2018 - by Linda Dillon

The British Government must accept its responsibilities to the victims and survivors of historical institutional abuse, Sinn Féin Victims spokespersons Linda Dillon has said.

The Mid-Ulster MLA was speaking as the SAVIA campaign group met with British Secretary of State Karen Bradley today.

“These victims and survivors have waited a long number of years for recognition and justice,” Linda Dillon Commented.

“The British Government and the religious institutions must accept their responsibilities to them, particularly in terms of financial redress.

“Work is also currently ongoing by the Executive Office on draft legislation stemming from the Hart Report. What we need to see now is the power-sharing institutions back in place so that we can take forward the proposed legislation once it is completed.”
