Ní Chuilín encourages public to take part in House Sales Schemes Consultation
Sinn Féin housing spokesperson Carál Ní Chuilín has encouraged people to take part in a consultation launched by the Department for Communities on the reclassification of housing associations and the future of House Sales Schemes in the north.
The North Belfast MLA said:
“There is a housing crisis in the north with over 20,000 households in housing stress and stark inequalities in the waiting list for social housing.
"In this context the reclassification of housing associations and the house sales scheme are hugely important issues, impacting on the social housing stock.
“This consultation gives the public the opportunity to make their views clear and ensure that housing waiting lists and inequalities are tackled.
“A number of public events will be held as part of the Consultation and I would encourage the public to attend.
“The events will take place on the following dates: Tuesday 24 July – Skainos Centre, Belfast; Wednesday 25 July - NICVA, Belfast; Wednesday 1 August – The Braid, Ballymena; Wednesday 8 August – Seagoe Hotel, Portadown; Wednesday 15 August – Millennium Forum, Derry; Wednesday 22 August – Fermanagh House, Enniskillen; Wednesday 29 August – Canal Court Hotel, Newry.
“The consultation period will run from today and close on the 24th September 2018. Details of the public events and the consultation documents can be found at: www.communities-ni.gov.uk/consultations/future-of-hss.”
