Sheehan seeking further Neurology assurances
Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson Pat Sheehan MLA is seeking further assurances from the Independent Inquiry Panel probing the Belfast Trust’s largest recall of patients initially affecting 2,500 Neurology patients across the North.
The Inquiry Panel team had a meeting involving representatives from political parties last month during which the West Belfast MLA raised a number of concerns which he is now seeking written clarification on.
Pat Sheehan commented:
“At the meeting, I raised a number of concerns regarding the panel’s terms of reference including access to evidence; the timescale of inquiry; transparency, accountability and independence.
“While the meeting allowed for an important and useful discussion I have now written to the Inquiry Chair seeking further clarification on a number of these areas.
“It is important for the public to know that the Inquiry will report in a timely manner and any individuals or organisations found to be at fault will be held accountable.
“Sinn Féin will continue to engage with the Inquiry Panel and to raise the concerns of affected patients because its crucial they get answers as to why they didn’t receive the care that they deserved and were entitled to.”
