Sinn Féin leader McDonald to address solidarity rally in Belfast on Monday
Sinn Féin is holding a rally in West Belfast at 7pm on Monday night, 16 July, at the site of the old Andersonstown Barracks in solidarity with the families of senior party members Gerry Adams and Bobby Storey whose homes were attacked last night and in solidarity with the people of the Bogside of Derry.
Sinn Féin Leader and Party President Mary Lou McDonald will be the main speaker at the solidarity rally and Gerry Adams and Bobby Storey will be at the event.
West Belfast Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan said:
“The attacks involving explosive devices on the homes of Gerry Adams and Bobby Storey were cowardly and reprehensible.
“Those involved are opposed to the peace process and the process of change.
“Sinn Féin will continue to represent this community and pursue our agenda for change, for peace and for a new agreed and united Ireland.
“Monday night’s rally is an opportunity for the people of Belfast to come out to show solidarity with the families of Gerry Adams and Bobby Storey and the people of the Bogside in Derry and send a message to those involved in attacks on Republicans and on the community to stop immediately.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
