Loyalists target three houses in Portadown

13 September, 2005

Sinn Féin Portadown councillor Brian McKeown has said that expressed concern at the targeting of the houses in the mixed Craigwell Avenue in Portadown where Portuguese people were living. The three homes were petrol bombed at about 1030pm this evening.

Speaking after the attacks Cllr McKeown said:

"These are disgraceful attacks carried out by mindless thugs who target people just because they are different from themselves.

"Portadown has a terrible history of loyalist sectarian and racist attacks.

"It is time for all civic, political and community leaders to stand together and show the racists and the sectarian bigots that have no place in our society. It demands positive leadership and demands brave leadership." ENDS
