Sinn Féin engage with farmers at Fermanagh County Show

7 August, 2018 - by Jemma Dolan

Sinn Féin Fermanagh & South Tyrone MLA Jemma Dolan has said there is widespread concern among farmers at the impact Brexit will have on the agricultural community.

Speaking from the Sinn Féin stall at the Fermanagh County Show, Jemma Dolan said:

“Over the next two days, many people who are involved in our farming and agricultural sector will gather at the Fermanagh County Show.

"Sinn Féin has always been a staunch supporter of rural communities and these events allow us the opportunity to meet and show our support for Ireland's farmers and agri-food businesses.

“I have already heard widespread concern among farmers about the uncertainties that lay ahead, with many fearing for their livelihoods, including those who have been farming the land for generations.

“Farmers and those in the agri-food industry will feel, more than most, the disastrous impact of the reckless Tory/DUP Brexit agenda.

"The only way to address the concerns of the farming community in the north on Brexit is to secure designated special status for the north within the EU to remain as part of the Single Market and Customs Union.”
