Shocking details of Permanent TSB sale continue to filter out – O’Brien
Sinn Féin spokesperson for Public Expenditure Jonathan O’Brien TD has said shocking details of the sale of Permanent TSB loan book continue to filter out.
Teachta O’Brien said details received by his office showed how deeply disingenuous PTSB have been in their spin and how deeply shocked affected families are as the news sinks in.
The Cork North-Central TD said:
“As more and more affected families contact me and my colleagues, I am deeper and deeper in shock at the levels PTSB are sinking to. I have written to PTSB CEO Jeremy Masding to demand the end of the sale and, at the very least, the exclusion of those loans which are meeting the terms of the restructuring agreement put in place with the bank.
“I wish to be clear; Sinn Féin considers this a political issue, not only a banking one. Minister Paschal Donohue owns Permanent TSB and is supposed to use that ownership to benefit the Irish people. We will continue to raise this issue at all levels. Hiding behind the bank and even the ECB is not good enough.
“I have already called for the Finance Committee to be recalled, but that may not be a sufficient response given the nature of the stories now emerging.”
