Hazzard criticises lack of engagement by British Minister
Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has criticised the British Immigration Minister, Caroline Nokes, for failing to meet elected representatives critical of Brexit.
The South Down MP said,
“Today the British Immigration Minister came to my border constituency and refused to meet with me or hear the deep concerns in this constituency about the disastrous effects that Brexit will have on the area.
“The lack of engagement by the British Immigration Minister is particularly ironic given the disgraceful anti-immigration and racist claims of senior Brexiteers.
“This was another box ticking exercise by a British government with no plan, no strategy and which couldn't care less about the impact of Brexit on South Down.”
