Sinn Féin MLA condemns on-going disruptions from loyalist protests
Sinn Féin MLA Michael Ferguson has this afternoon condemned the continuing disruptions resulting from on-going loyalist protests and road blockages.
Mr Ferguson said:
"It is absurd and completely unacceptable that small groups of loyalists are able to block roads for hours at a time. These protests have been on-going for close to a week now. You only have to look at any main thoroughfare throughout Belfast and beyond, to see that people are being held up for work, hospital appointments and other necessary appointments.
"Had these protests been organized by nationalists or republicans, then they would have been forcibly removed long ago as happened in Ardoyne on 12th July to facilitate an Orange march. Yet loyalists can disrupt Belfast with apparent impunity as the PSNI look on." ENDS
