Vulture funds are running amok in Ireland - Martin Kenny TD
Sinn Féin TD for Sligo, Leitrim, North Roscommon and South Donegal, Martin Kenny has said that vulture funds are running amok in Ireland and the government is "doing nothing" to stop them.
Deputy Kenny said;
“The latest sale of the Ulster Bank loan book to vulture funds has caused more stress to struggling mortgage holders. This is yet another sale of this kind, following what has already happened with Permanent TSB and KBC.
“The government is allowing the banks to do what they like, even if that does harm to our citizens. As far as this government is concerned, the banks and the vulture funds come before the people in this country now.
“The vulture funds are running amok and the government is doing nothing to stop them. All this is happening during the summer recess in the Dáil and despite calls from Sinn Féin, the Finance Committee has not reconvened to discuss what is happening.
“The question is: What kind of a country will we have left by the time the government-backed banks have finished selling it off to the highest bidder?
"Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael are standing by and allowing the country to be sold from under our feet.”
