Parents urged to follow RCN inhaler advice ahead of new term - Gildernew
Sinn Féin MLA Colm Gildernew has urged parents who have children suffering from Asthma to follow advice given by RCN to ensure children are using their inhalers regularly before returning to school.
The Fermanagh & South Tyrone MLA said:
“Each year at the beginning of school term in September, there is a rise in the number of Asthma-related hospital admissions among school age children.
“This may be due to children’s routines being often disrupted by changes in sleeping habits during the school holidays.
“The changes in the weather and exposure to new coughs and colds when they return to school, leaves them more at risk of asthma attacks.
“I would appeal to parents to heed calls made by the RCN that children with asthma should be reminded to use their inhalers regularly before returning to school.”
