Assurances must be given to Primark store workers - Beattie
Sinn Féin Councillor Ciarán Beattie has said everything that can be done must be done for Primark workers after a fire destroyed much of the Royal Avenue store in Belfast City Centre.
Cllr Beattie said:
“I have spoken to the union who represent the Primark workers, the focus now must be on assessing the damage to the store and providing assurances to the store workers.
“It is unfortunate that Primark was to take on 100 more staff and these jobs are now in jeopardy.
“There are currently 360 staff working in this Primark store and I welcome the fact that Primark have stated their intent to relocate them to other stores, so their jobs will be protected in the wake of this fire.”
